Toco the human collie set to open 'zoo' — where human guests can live out their dreams of becoming a dog, too
From: New York Post
He's been working like a dog.
The infamous man from Japan known as Toco the human collie plans to open his very own zoo in January, where visitors can try on a human-sized dog costume and live out their fantasies as man's best friend.
Billed as “a place where your wish to become an animal comes true,” the Tocotoco Zoo is set to open on Jan. 26 in Saitama Prefecture, just north of Tokyo.
Those looking to participate will get the chance to don a realistic and lifesize Alaskan Malamute costume that features a wagging tail and a mouth that can open and close, according to the zoo's website.
Toco, who shelled out $14,000 on a hyperrealistic custom-made collie ensemble, recently shared social media videos of himself hanging out with a fellow traveler who likes to get gussied up in the Alaskan Malamute suit.
“I want to be an animal! I'm opening a zoo where you can become an animal, where you can fulfill your dream!” the human collie wrote on his Instagram account.
Now fans of Toco will also get a chance to let their inner dog out as the Tocotoco Zoo is set to take place several days in January and February, with participants able to book private experiences for 49,000 yen, or about $311, according to its website.
Animal enthusiasts must meet specific size guidelines — standing at least 4 feet 11 inches tall but shorter than 5 feet 11 inches — to fit inside the dog costume.
Pooch wannabes can also experience having their own dog pack as up to three people can participate in one booking, according to the zoo website.
Fans of the human collie took to the concept like a dog to a bone.
“I'm so excited for this project!! signing up as soon as im able to, i cant wait to be a large kitty,” one commented.
“Awesome- Sign me up!!” another chimed in.
“That's a great idea Toco! All your friends can join and be happy,” a third added.
It was not immediately clear who would be running the Tocotoco Zoo or if it planned to get other dog costumes in addition to the Alaskan Malamute suit.
Requests for comment from The Post to Toco were not immediately returned.
